Endeavor Business Media’s Energy Group Welcomes Two New Senior Editors
NASHVILLE, TN//December 15th, 2021 –
Endeavor Business Media has hired two new editors in its Energy business. John Dobberstein joined the company on October 11 as Senior Editor of Utility Products, an established print and digital resource for power, telecom and cable TV infrastructure companies. He also serves as a contributing editor to the business’s T&D World magazine. Rod Walton joined the company on November 1 as Senior Editor of EnergyTech, a digital-only media brand that just launched in September 2021. It is aimed at helping commercial and industrial entities navigate the energy transition.
Both gentlemen come to Endeavor as accomplished editors with years of experience in both newspaper and magazine writing and reporting.
Dobberstein worked in newspapers, including the Tulsa World, for about 20 years before moving into the business-to-business magazine arena. Most recently he served 12 years as Senior Editor of No-Till Farmer, the No. 1 magazine in its niche market. He also has experience recruiting live and virtual event speakers and hosting and executing podcasts, webinars, and virtual events. Dobberstein has a bachelor’s degrees in journalism and political science from Central Michigan University.
As Senior Editor of Utility Products, Dobberstein provides in-depth information about the tools and technologies at workers’ disposal such as gear, clothing, sensors, computers, vehicles and more. He sources and develops how-to, practical information to help workers stay safe and be more effective crew members.
“Much like the salt-of-the-earth farmers I met while working in my previous job, utility line crews and field workers fulfill an equally important function constructing, repairing and maintaining the utilities that keep our world running,” Dobberstein said. “Few things, if any, are more important in our world today than delivering electric power, gas, water and communication services. I’m excited to be covering these important industries and look forward to making Utility Products an indispensable resource for those in the trenches—whether a line worker, supervisor, engineer or other team member.”
Walton was a writer and reporter for the Tulsa World for more than 22 years, including several years as the energy editor. He joined PennWell as the Senior Editor of Electric Light & Power and POWERGRID International magazines in 2015. He’s covered all aspects of electric power from power generation to transmission and distribution to electrification and sustainability. Rod also has experience in multimedia and working on conference content for DISTRIBUTECH International and POWERGEN International, two of the industry’s largest trade shows. Walton has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Oklahoma.
As Senior Editor of this new brand, Walton not only sources and develops information on how C&I industries such as fleet operators, hospitals, manufacturers, military bases, universities and schools, data centers, and others can meet their sustainability goals and better protect their facilities from power interruptions, he also helps build audience and create partnerships with industry associations and organizations.
“Coming to Endeavor and being a part of helping get EnergyTech started is a dream come true for me. I am fascinated by the future of electric vehicles, CHP, microgrids and how electricity for mission critical users like the military bases, hospitals and manufacturers will evolve into a more sustainable and yet reliable form. I think it will take all types of energy-related technologies and all hands on deck to achieve that, and I’m excited to be covering it,” Walton said.
Dobberstein and Walton report to Teresa Hansen, vice president of content for Endeavor Energy.
